Low-temperature methods of sterilizationshould not be used unless the ophthalmic instrument manufacturer and thesterilizer manufacturer have validated the method for the specific instrumentswith respect to efficacy of sterilization, potential ocular toxicity (e.g.,from oxidation of metals), and instrument functionality. Vaporized hydrogen peroxide: Vaporizedhydrogen peroxide sterilizes devices in pouches or wrapped trays at 122F(55℃) during a55-minute cycle. It requires no special utilities or venting. Don't usevaporized hydrogen peroxide for polymethyl methacrylate or polycarbonateinstruments that will come in contact with the eye.
