我参加了今年的盛会,也有幸聆听了国际专家专场讲座,收益匪浅,纯英语的内容听懂了大半,因此有了继续好好学习英语的想法,要努力学习更多的国际前沿知识!再次感谢胡教授以及论坛各位老师的辛勤劳动,让我们有机会分享这甜美的果实!

    带了翻译的专家讲的内容我能听懂,没带的就没听懂。外国专家讲的课大都是基础、循证,理论不高深,但实验内容高深。

我也听了Thomas A.Russo讲的“catheter related urinary tract infections-can we make it extinct?"和Charles Farthing 讲的“Antibiotic stewardship and infection control” ,Thomas A.Russo的课虽然没有翻译,但结合中文的PPT,听懂了大半,Charles Farthing 的因为有大量的细菌、抗菌药物名称,大部分没弄明白。

Prof. Seto Wing-Hong
Professor WH Seto played a key role in initiating Infection Control in Hong Kong and started the local training
course for Infection Control Practitioners in 1985. He is involved extensively in Infection Control education
throughout China and the region and is the Founding President of the Asia Pacific Society of Infection
Control. Besides being Honorary Professor for the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Polytechnic
University, he is also a visiting professor for the University of New South Wales. He was conferred honorary
professorships by several universities in China including Honorary Professorship for Infection Control by the
Military Postgraduate Medical College, PLA General Hospital (301) and the People’s Liberation Army of
China has in addition appointed him honorary consultant for Infection control in 1999. He is also the past
Chairman of the Infection Control Scientific Committee of the “Centre for Health Protection” in Hong Kong.
Presently and has authored over a hundred research papers including the book “Infection Control for the
Asian Healthcare Worker”. Many international societies had invited him to speak on Infection Control and
they include the ICC, ICID, CDC (USA), ASM (USA), ICN (UK), Hospital Infection Society (UK), APIC (USA),
SHEA (USA) and ICNA (Australia). The WHO has also regularly assigned him as advisor for various projects
in Infection Control, Antibiotics Resistance and a core group member for the WHO Hand Hygiene guideline.
He is also a member of the Emergency Committee of the IHR of the WHO, member of the Infection Control
International Network and Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Infection Control in Hong Kong. He is
also awarded the “Bronze Bauhinia Star” in 2004 and “Silver Bauhinia Star” in 2011 from the Hong Kong
Government for his work in Infection Control in Hong Kong. In view of his years of involvement in Infection
Control, he is also active in the related field of Quality Healthcare Management and is presently the President
of the Asia Pacific Society of Quality Healthcare.

Charles Farthing was one of the first doctors to care for AIDS patients in the United Kingdom in the early
1980’s. Along with Brian Gizzard he was involved in AIDS research and helped set up the Kobler Center at
St Stephen’s Hospital (subsequently the Royal Chelsea Westminster) in 1987/88. Charles worked closely
at that time with the Terence Higgins Trust, and a number of politicians, to help with the initial response to
the AIDS epidemic in the UK. Subsequently Charles joined the faculty of New York University and the US
AIDS Clinical Trials Group, and became director of the Bellevue Hospital AIDS Program in New York City. In
1994 Charles became medical director of AIDS healthcare Foundation in Los Angeles where he remained
involved in AIDS research and became involved in international research, helping to set up HIV/AIDS clinics
in eleven different resource-limited countries. In 2007 Charles joined MSD and currently works in Hong Kong
as Regional Director of Medical Affairs for HIV and anti-infectives for the Asia-Pacific region. He is on the parttime
faculty of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and an adjunct Professor at Fudan University , Shanghai.

Tao Hong, MD, PhD is the Chief of Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics at the Department of Pathology,
Hackensack University Medical Center.
Dr. Hong graduated from Shanghai First Medical College (currently Fudang University, College of Medicine),
Shanghai, China. He studied at the Sackler Institute of Biomedical Sciences, New York University School
of Medicine and earned his PhD in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. He did his fellowship training
in clinical microbiology at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center, New York City. Dr. Hong has served as the Chief
of Microbiology and Molecular diagnostics at the HUMC since 1995. Dr. Hong is a diplomat of American
Board of Medical Microbiology and American Board of Clinical Chemistry for Molecular diagnostics. He
also serves as a member in the editorial board for the Journal of clinical Microbiology, American Society for
Microbiology. He has published many research papers in peer reviewed journals and wrote book chapters
in diagnostic microbiology.
Dr. Hong is the current President for the Chinese American Association for Clinical Microbiology

Professor Didier Pittet, MD, MS, is the Hospital Epidemiologist, Professor of Medicine, and Director of the
Infection Control Programme and WHO Collaborating Centre on Patient Safety at the University of Geneva
Hospitals and Faculty of Medicine, Geneva, Switzerland. He holds Honorary Professorships at Imperial
College London, UK, Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Health Science, and the First Medical
School of the Fu, Shanghai, China. Professor Pittet is External Lead of the WHO Global Patient Safety
Challenge “Clean Care is Safe Care”. He is the recipient of several national and international honours
including a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) awarded by Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II for services
related to the prevention of healthcare-associated infection in the UK (2007), the Society for Healthcare
Epidemiology of America Lectureship for his contribution to infection control and healthcare epidemiology
(2008), and the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases’ Award for Excellence
(2009). Professor Pittet is co-author of more than 450 publications in peer-reviewed journals and 50 textbook
chapters. His current research interests include the epidemiology and prevention of healthcare-associated
infections, methods for improving compliance with barrier precautions and hand hygiene practices, as well
as innovative methods for improving the quality of patient care and patient safety. He is also involved in
research on the epidemiology of infectious diseases. The experience of his team in engaging nations and
healthcare settings worldwide in a universal commitment to patient safety is unique.

Linda Homan
Ms Homan is the Senior Manager of Clinical and Professional Services for Ecolab Healthcare. In that role, Linda focuses on the development of clinical and educational solutions, applied clinical research and incorporation of clinical best practices in development of new products and services.
Linda is CBIC-certified in infection control and has been active in the field for over 20 years. She has held leadership positions in the Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) including President and Vice President of the Minnesota chapter and board member of the National APIC Research Council (formerly the APIC Research Foundation).

Nalini Singh,MD, MPH
Dr. Nalini Singh received her pediatric training at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and her
Infectious Diseases training at National Institutes of Health. She has a Masters of Public Health from George
Washington University. Currently, Dr. Singh is Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, and is Professor
of Pediatrics, Epidemiology and Global Health at the George Washington University Schools of Medicine and
Public Health. In 2009, Dr. Singh was awarded the Fulbright Scholar Award to establish infection prevention
programs in the Southeast Asia, an area that is an extension of her interest in global health.
Dr. Singh was appointed to membership of the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee
by the Secretary of Health and Human Services and served on the committee from 2003-2008 where
she participated in the development of guidelines for prevention of transmission of multi-drug resistant
organisms and for public reporting and in the review of the compendium on the prevention of healthcareassociated
infections. Dr. Singh was elected to the Society of Pediatric Research in 2001 and is a fellow
of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America
(SHEA). She is the chair of External Affairs Committee of SHEA and has a major interest in establishing
international collaboration to control the emergence of antimicrobial resistance. Dr Singh and the members
of the Division of Infectious Diseases are the recipients of many “Golden Apple Awards" presented by the
House Staff Association for contributing knowledge and development in pediatrics by providing a stimulating
educational and professional environment that promote for high quality pediatric care. She is a preceptor for
and an advisor for candidates in the Masters in Public Health Program and has mentored medical students,
fellows, junior faculty and SHEA International Ambassadors. She has provided guidance in their career
goals and career development plans and in their research designs and projects and has assisted them
in data analysis, in presentation format and publication initiatives. Dr. Singh’s research interests include
the prevention of healthcare-associated infections, molecular diagnostics of antimicrobial organisms and
diseases of global health importance and maternal and child health.
