APIC ANNOUNCES FILM FESTIVAL TO PROMOTE BEST PRACTICES IN INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL
Washington, November 16, 2010 – The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) is now accepting submissions for the 2011 APIC Film Festival, scheduled during APIC 2011, June 27-29, 2011, in Baltimore, MD. Entries may include short documentaries, films and informational videos that feature the theme of infection prevention and control.
The winning entry will receive a complimentary registration to APIC 2011 to see their video played before a live audience. Deadline for entry is December 31, 2010.
“We are excited to launch this video competition and believe it will add a lively new dimension to our meeting,” said APIC 2011 Annual Conference Chair Vickie Brown, RN, MPH, CIC. “We hope our members will be inspired to share best practices in infection prevention, stories of those personally affected by healthcare-associated infections, or personal reflections on these issues.”
Any video telling a story about infection prevention is eligible. Entries will be judged on their interest to the infection prevention community, creativity, inspirational qualities, originality and quality of production. Submissions should be no longer than 10 minutes and must be uploaded to YouTube as a video response to the 2011 APIC Film Festival announcement video. After uploading, entrants will need to complete the official entry form, including a description of the film, contact details, and the link to their video on YouTube. Incomplete forms will not be eligible for judging. Faxed or mailed submittals will not be accepted.
