Scrubbed team members should wear two pairs of gloves, one over the other, during invasive procedures. A systematic review of 31 randomized controlled trials measuring glove perforations showed that the addition of a second pair of surgical gloves significantly reduced perforations to the inner glove. Triple gloving, knitted outer gloves, and glove liners also significantly reduced perforations to the inner glove. More inner glove perforations were detected during surgery when perforation indicator systems were used. References
