The Chinese Geriatrics Society Who We Are Registered at the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China, the Chinese Geriatrics Society (CGS) was founded on April 19, 2015 in Beijing. CGS is a nonprofit national academic society and social legal entity of geriatric professionals expertizing at disease prevention, medical treatment, patient care, nursing, rehabilitation, especially the control,research and education of chronic disease. Our Mission CGS strives to unite geriatric professionals and healthcare providers throughout the country; implement the national policy, laws and regulations pertaining the pension and healthcare for the elderly, and contribute to the development of aging research, the flourish of geriatrics and the building of healthy aging society in China. Our Principal Work CGS provides leadership in promoting and influencing geriatrics research, public heath policy-making and medical services for the elderly. The principal work of the Society includes supporting geriatrics research and international collaboration in gerontology, promoting education and training system of geriatric professionals to facilitate the provision of quality geriatric care, disseminating geriatrics knowledge and advanced technology in the country, and advocating for public policy aimed at improving the health and healthcare for every older Chinese. Geriatrics Day To raise the public’s awareness of solicitude for the elderly and respect for healthcare providers, CGS proposes April 19th of each year as China Geriatrics Day. On this day, geriatric professionals and social workers in both cities and rural areas concentrate their efforts on providing free healthcare services to older people. Membership The membership of CGS has two categories: personal member and organizational member. Individuals and organizations who are interested in promoting the study of geriatrics and dedicated to improving the health, independence and quality of life of all older people, are welcome to join the society.
