名词前the last的含义您知道吗？英语惯用法问题

这几句话该如何正确翻译？注意这几个句子中名词前the last的含义。这里牵涉到一个英语习惯用法的问题，英语惯用法是我们学习英语的难点，值得引起我们重视！

第二问：在名词之后加上in (或to) the true(或proper、full等) sense of the word又是何含义？请试译一下下列几句英语。

非常正确。the last 在名词前含有“否定”的的意思。 名词之后加上in (或to) the true(或proper、full等) sense of the word有按照这个词的本来意义，真正意义上等意思。
Their attempt was a failure in the true sense of the word. 严格地说，他们的企图失败了。
She is a good doctor in the proper sense of the word. 她是真正意义上的好医生。
The experiment is a success to the full sense of the word. 这个试验的确成功了。

意思正确，但译得不够精炼。
