Volume 18 Issue 3

Antibiotic resistance in the ICU

In this issue we launch a new review series examining the problem of progressive antibiotic resistance in the ICU, guest edited by Prof Steven Opal. Brad Spellberg reviews the future of antibiotic resistance, discussing the reasons for the lack of new antibiotics and ways to encourage new development. Michele Yamamoto and Aurora Pop-Vicas discuss the major challenge of treating infections caused by Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae, including what therapies have been successful and the antimicrobials currently in development.
